START DAY MINUS 5:

On Wednesday 29th December, after many months of planning, David and I met at Gatwick Airport to fly to Oslo, Norway. Once there we have 4 days to sort out our food supplies and post them to the various pick up points. Then a further day of traveling to our start point.
Assuming all goes to plan we start our long journey north, on Monday 3rd January. Our trip, from the southern most tip to the northern most tip of Norway will take around 110 days and we will cover around 2,000 miles (3,200km).

Everything the discerning man about town needs for winter in Norway.

Mrs P, who won’t now see me for almost 4 months, was stoic at our parting. No tears. She’s made of strong stuff that girl. Overcome with emotion I watched as she skipped happily away singing, “I’m free. Freeeeee…”
David on the other hand was almost driven to tears by my inability to deal with the relatively simple process of negotiating checking in etc. In my defence Mrs P usually takes charge of passports and boarding passes when we travel. Only giving the requisite document to me when I need it and taking it from me immediately after. She knows full well that I will lose said document within minutes , if not seconds, if allowed to look after them myself. So, while I patted myself down, searched every pocket and rifled through my rucksack for about the 4th time looking for my passport David simply disowned me and wandered off. Oh how I miss Mrs P. And it’s only been 2 hours!.
Anyway, I digress, as I said, the big journey starts on Monday. If you want to follow our progress go to the web site and follow both the blog (and the map link from 3rd January).
