Once more unto the breach dear friends…

Well, maybe not as dramatic as the words spoken by Henry in Shakespeare’s Henry V, but it’s a big moment for us.

It’s 9pm on Tuesday 8th February and we will be heading for our overnight train soon. We should be in Nordli at around noon tomorrow (Wednesday 9th) and from there our big journey north re-starts. Around 1,400 km over anything from 50 -70 days.

We are, all 3 of us, myself, David and Trond, very excited.

King Henry’s speech goes on to say;

“I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game’s afoot:
Follow your spirit…”

I think that about sums it up.

Trond smugly points out that his rucksack is the lightest.

9pm - Smiling because we don’t yet know that engineering works mean our train only goes halfway. Then the mad dash by taxi to get to the Oslo central train station on time.

06.30 - Are we there yet? Nope, just another 3 hrs.

David hides from the paparazzi

After a little over 15 hrs we finally arrive at Nordli (Sandvika) where we are treated to a free lunch by the lovely lady in the café. Then, after too many trials and tribulations, we restart our journey north. Now with the added company of Trond.

Day 1 - 1.30pm - The re-start for David & I and a continuation for Trond, who completed the first half some years ago.

Leaving Nordli/Sandvika for a 12km ski to Kvelia

Our tiny home for the night. Just 2 beds. Guess who gets to sleep on the floor.

Posting will get difficult after today, but do keep your eyes peeled for new posts. Maybe even sign up to have the blog delivered to your inbox.
